10th Annual Old Glory Festival

06/10/2017 (All day)

Bement’s Old Glory Festival, revived in 2008, now celebrates its tenth year. Share your Old Glory Experience on social media!  #OldGloryFestival

Community-wide celebrations are a part of Bement’s heritage. Past history reminds us of community concerts, county fairs, political rallies, Old Settler’s Reunions, and Chautauqua meetings. Present day events include an Easter parade, Easter Egg Lane, community concerts, Fourth of July parade and fireworks, Heritage Sunday, Christmas parade and tree lighting, and of course, the Old Glory Festival.

Veterans Park, the adjacent Bryant Block, and downtown Bodman Street, all play host to this year’s festival. Veterans Park, tree-lined, and centrally located, gives a magical feel to the festival. Nestled among the Bryant Block activities are the Bryant Cottage State Historic Site and the Bryant House, both open for tours.

Starting with the annual 5K Run/Walk, the day is filled with activities ranging from the traditional Beautiful Baby Contest to the not-so-traditional Cricket Spittin’ Contest. Events, crafts, and of course, plenty of food make for a full day. After the festival, visit the Bement Lions Club annual chicken dinner on Bodman Street. End the day by returning to Veterans Park after sunset for an outdoor movie.
